DFD-ZKI contributed to national exercise on crisis management of major disasters (LUEKEX)
The German federal (Bund) and regional (Laender) governments trained the cross national management of major disasters. Main focus of contribution of the crisis reaction team of DFD was the project management in the context of the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters.
The German federal (Bund) and regional (Länder) governments exercised the cross national management of major disasters. The exercise LÜKEX took place from November 29 to December 2, 2004. The scenario assumed a tense security situation with terrorist threats and aggressions and at the same time severe winter gales caused a long-lasting and area-wide power failure.
Under the auspices of the ministry of the interior with its emergency task forces, seven other ministries, the "Länder" Bavaria, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Berlin and Schleswig-Holstein participated as well as more than one hundred private companies. Also the German Joint Information and Situation Centre (GMLZ), which is an integral part of the Federal Agency for Civil Protection (BBK), took part. The main focus of the exercise was the training of multidisciplinary collaboration and the crisis management of the administration.
Main focus of contribution of the crisis reaction team of DFD was the project management in the context of the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters, which provides up to date satellite information in crisis situations. The Charter was virtually triggered by the GMLZ. The DFD contributed virtual damage maps of areas affected by the gales and a map of the actual snow situation according to the scenario.
